Not to spoil the new book, (i'm not even sure this is IN the new book) but when Sir Nigel excuses himself from the meeting, he goes and helps thorne escape. Earlier, Nigel is revealed as scully's leak in the british navy

I didn't really mind the "don't resist evil" theology. The story was alright, and I was impressed that Packer actually got hurt, and stayed hurt for at least a little while. So often in books, if a character even gets hurt at all, the injury is conveniently forgotten.

Though scary when one thinks of what the allegories mean, this and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe along with The Horse and His Boy are the best in the series.

This is one of my favorite books! The modern kids slip into their medieval surroundings much better than a few have in recent fantasy novels, and the allegories are awesome. There is one rather wasteful chapter, though; be warned!

It was hard getting through the first half of the Fellowship, as it's written like a history book instead of a fantasy...but it gets a lot more engaging. I agree, the movie was worse for cutting out poor T.B. ... and Frodo, in the book, is an old man! That is one area where I think Peter Jackson changed and went unscathed in my mind.

I read this when I was 12, over 33 years ago and still remember the story vividly. I have recently found and purchased a copy for my son (100 years old). He loved the book as well.

I love my Kindle. Sure it has some faults, but overall it's a super gadget for avid readers in the footprint of a small paperback. My favorite features - aside from just plain reading - are the free book samples and the 24/7 Amazon Kindle Bookstore available via the free Internet connection. Nothing like accessing the net on Amazon's dime!

the makers of Prince Caspian kept to the original story better than i would have expected... i had heard they were going to make it into a silly pure-action flick, but thankfully this was not the case
