I read the first one and fell in love. Since then I've read the second, third, and will start the fourth soon and I'm planning on reading the rest. The Story Girl was also very good.
I've heard some people say that Anne's love of romantic tragedies and her swoony imaginations are weird, but they have their place in my heart. They're also, imo*, written very well.
What do you think of this series and Lucy Maud Montgomery's other books?

Me? I love them! (believe it or not!) I've heard/read other boys saying that they can't figure out why their sisters like Anne books, but I can't see how they don't like them!

I've had the first book read to me. . . and I think the second one. I can't remember, but I enjoyed them! (We actually just finished watching Anne of Green Gables and Anne of Avonlea. Great movies!)

I know a lot of guys who like Anne of Green Gables actually--good for you
(Ok, so they're all mostly on Narniaweb, but still.)
I really like Rainbow Valley. The others are all right...a little too poetic and flowery and perfect for my tastes. I can identify with the Emily books more for some reason. Oh yes, The Story Girl is v. good too.

That's weird! I just watched the first 2 Anne movies in the last 3 days, and have been seriously considering reading the series soon. My mom read us the first one out loud awhile ago. This is actually the first time I have seen the 2nd movie, and Gilbert is wonderful! I can identify with Anne trying to find a place for her imagination, even though she's grown up.
Oh, is the 3rd movie any good? A friend said it was terrible. What do you think? Is it based on the books at all?

I've started the fourth book. I love how she describes things, like the comfy things in life, the dreadful atrocities and the delicious feelings...I wish I could write like that!
I've only seen the two-VHS adaptations of AoGG, and AoA and they were good...the latter was based on the director's whims, tho'.

My favorite one is probably the sixth one. Anne's kids are so funny!

By "the third movie" do you mean the first one of Anne of Avonlea? They did depart from the book, but I really like the movie as a movie.

I mean Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story. It's where Gilbert joins the army in WW1, and Anne goes to find him.

AAaAH.
That sounds horrible, horrible, horrible. Well, it wouldn't be if they hadn't stuck Anne into it...
Someone ought to make Rainbow Valley and Rilla of Ingelside into movies
Has anyone seen the TV series of the Story Girl? (Road to Avonlea or whatever) I haven't seen any of it in ages, but I remember liking it. Though the only thing it has in common with the book is the characters' names.

Oh dear, I hate it when that happens!

I've never read any of L. M. M. before, but I think I'd like them, or atleast, some of them.

I've loved the Anne stories since I was 8 or 9 years old.
I wanted red hair so badly. I quoted her all the time. By now I've read the first book so many times that when I watch the first movie I know what the characters are thinking as they say their lines. I watched a 1934 film adaptation of the book. Ahem. They merged the character of Mrs. Lynde with Mrs. Barry! Diana had blonde hair! Gilbert was a goofball, and he and Anne started secretly seeing each other after he rescued her from her Lily Maid predicament. *BOOK SPOILERS* And Matthew didn't die! Gilbert cured him. *scream* It was too much to bear.

Matthew didn't die????? Gilbert cured him!!! That sounds terrible. I'm really glad I've never seen that version.
