Hi, this is Ariadne from the other forum. I don't see where to set an avatar. How do I do that?

Hey, Lanna. Unfortunately, that's one of the things still in development. You can get an avatar by registering an account with Gravatar (http://en.gravatar.com/). They will ask you for an email address, and you'll need to use the same one that you used to register here. Then you can upload a picture and it will show up on this forum.

If you don't want to do get a Gravatar account, the forum will assign you a random geometric design for an avatar.

We are working on making it so that you can upload an avatar, and we hope to have this feature ready as soon as possible.

I can also change the automatically assigned avatars to a random goofy cartoon face. But then we can't have the geometric designs. What does everybody think? For a sample goofy face, see the picture labeled "wavatar" here: http://blog.gravatar.com/2008/04/22/identicons-monsterids-and-wavatars-oh-my/

Geometric designs most definitely. Those cartoon faces are just frightening. :P

Sounds like it'll be staying with the geometric designs. (And I agree with you, Alyosha, those faces are kind of frightening...)

Yah, definitely geometric designs. Will there be smilies on the forum? (Doesn't really matter, just curious).

I'm still working on getting smilies, but they will be added pretty soon.

Ummm. That was weird. I just sent a PM to you, Jordan, and after I sent it, it showed a preview thing of the PM and my avatar was different in the preview. A green design. Strange...
