Well, I’m rather excited about it. This is my first “new Redwall book coming out” experience, as I just finished reading the series. Hopefully it will turn out good!
October 11, 2008 at 8:24 pm #41452Yeah, he does spooky stuff pretty well.
I hope you enjoy it alot, Sarah!

October 17, 2008 at 5:19 pm #41455Update from the book signing! I went last night, it was fun, we bought his two most recent books there and got them signed, and he gave a funny presentation. He is a born entertainer, I imagine he was an excellent stand-up comedian in his younger days. He recited/acted the description of Cluny the Scourge from Redwall. I absolutely love his accent!

I started reading Doomwyte aloud to the sibs almost as soon as we got home. It’s a little bit creepy alright. He managed to make me shiver within the first couple chapters.
October 17, 2008 at 9:37 pm #41456Cool.
I’m glad it went well.I’m still waiting until that comes in from the library…
October 18, 2008 at 5:09 am #41457OH, THAT’LL NEVER WORK! I HAVETA ORDER IT FROM OTHER LIBRARIES OR WHATNOT CAUSE OTHERWISE IT WOULD NEVER COME THRU.
October 18, 2008 at 5:19 am #41458Caps lock difficulties, Pip?

Is the plot any different from the standard Redwall formula, Alassiel?
October 18, 2008 at 4:49 pm #41459Well, I haven’t really gotten far enough to tell, but it doesn’t look like it. However, this time the riddles were written by Gonff himself, and it has a lovely spooky edge. I’ll let you know when I get further whether it looks any different.
October 18, 2008 at 5:08 pm #41460Gonff wrote them? Cool.
October 19, 2008 at 2:59 am #41461Aw, he was so cute!
Naw, Aly, you musta not seen me other post; I said I was on the phone at the time so putting on caps lock was easier.
October 25, 2008 at 12:40 am #41462I’ve just finished Doomwyte. It has the elements of the previous 19 books (i.e. Riddles, songs, feasts, quests, battle at the end, etc.) but the plot is quite refreshingly different. I won’t say too much, but it was different enough that I found myself wondering what was going to happen next, instead of predicting the climax way before it happened.
October 25, 2008 at 1:20 pm #41463I’m still waiting for it to come in from the library. Was it really really creepy?
October 25, 2008 at 2:10 pm #41464Um, not really… It seemed a bit darker, but really, it didn’t top Castaways of the Flying Dutchman.
October 25, 2008 at 3:27 pm #41465Um, I haven’t read that. Could you compare it to something else?
