Patience Goodspeed was terrible! The only character worth liking got killed off! I was SO mad about that...I feel affection for tall, thin guys with thick hair and long pointy noses!

I liked it!!! I didn't like the characters as much, but it was a good story.

Oh, how was Mutiny on the Bounty? I saw that one in passing and wondered about it.

Ahh. . . part of "Kidnapped" takes place on a ship, but it's got more highlands of Scotland in it. (Although it's really good.) Oh! How about Rudyard Kipling's "Captains Couragous"? It's about a rich, bratty millionaire kid who falls overboard off a steam boat and gets picked up by a fishing boat. Very good. Some language, though.

I started Kidnapped, but had to return it to the library before I could finish. I need to get it out again and see if I remember where I left off.

Oh yeah, I read those! Captains Courageous ddin't strike my fancy, except for the picture about the bratty boy! I liked the old-timey movie better.
Mutiny on the Bounty...hmm. Well, it's neat. It makes ya wanna go to Tahiti! But I'll warn you, it's graphic in some parts. The movie fell off the band-wagon on this 'un, because they hardly showed flogging scenes and the book went all out with 'em, which is the reason why I got them. I love the concept of suffering for Christ, so even if the guys aren't Christians I get as close to S.F.C. as I can! This includes reading books with numerous whippings.

Pip here again; my younger sibling just said that she really liked Pippi Longstocking, Cats in Cyberspace, Toliver's Secret and Over Sea, Under Stone were her favorite books read aloud to her and my other sibling.

Pip here yet again; right now for the nighttime read-aloud we are doing "The Great Turkey Walk", which rother rocks.
Yay! School is starting in one more week! My fingers are itching to read all those good-looking books!

We're reading about the Revolutionary War. No idea what's coming up!

School! No! Do not mention it!

I just finished summer school English class (lots of short stories and then the hateful tome that is Of Mice and Men) so I'm putting off thinking about school for as long as I possibly can.

That was English 12 though, so I'm not sure what's coming next...I wonder what books one generally studies in college English...

    Isle of Swords is fantastic!

My favorite math series so far is Math-You-See. I think Saxon is terrible!

Oh, I used Saxon for about a year and it liked ta killed me! Math-u-See worked with my little sisters for a bit, but then went downhill. The best math program I've used was Teaching Textbooks. At the beginning of Pre-Algebra, I could hardly multiply! At the end, I was booking. I used that program for Algebra 1 and 2's startin' this Monday. *gulps*

I did Math-U-See from Algebra 2 onwards, and it really taught me how to do math. Although, having a knack for it, and having a mother who's a math whiz is helpful, too.

Yeah, that would help somewhat! I guess you must be a visual learner.
