    The Raven King is a character (sort of...) in the aforementioned Jonathan Strange.

    I remember reading The Owl and the Pussycat in my fourth grade literature book, and liking it very much, but I should read it again. I keep getting it mixed up with The Walrus and the Carpenter, which is even better

    Random poem from English text:

    At the Theatre: To the Lady Behind Me

    Dear Madam, you have seen this play;
    I never saw it till today.
    You know the details of the plot,
    But, let me tell you, I do not.
    The author seeks to keep from me
    The murderer's identity,
    And you are not a friend of his
    If you keep shouting who it is.
    The actors in their funny way
    Have several funny things to say,
    But they do not amuse me more
    If you have said them just before;
    The merit of the drama lies,
    I understand, in some surprise;
    But the surprise must now be small
    Since you have just foretold it all.
    The lady you have brought with you
    Is, I infer, a half-wit too,
    But I can understand the piece
    Without assistance from your niece.
    In short, foul woman, it would suit
    Me just as well if you were mute;
    In fact, to make my meaning plain,
    I trust you will not speak again.
    And---may I add one human touch?---
    Don't breathe upon my neck so much.

    Oh, that's a good one. *applauds Alyosha for performing the difficult task of finding some poetry he likes*

    Poetry HE likes? Are you a boy, Alyosha? (Don't worry; I'm not a hacker or anything.)
    Yeah, that was a good poem! Some poetry have such bad meters, it drives me nuts!

    I think Jordan meant poetry that he, as in Jordan, likes.

    Often when people use asterisks, they refer to themself as "he" or "she". So Jordan was saying that Alyosha had found a poem he liked.

    I've got a little book that I copy down my favorite poems into. (As I discover them, of course.)

    We just found a nice, big book of old poetry in the bargain books at Borders for $5!

    My favorite piece of of poetry is from the beginning of Legend of Luke

    The young must grow old
    whilst the old grow older
    cowards will shrink
    while the bold grow bolder
    courage may blossom in quiet hearts
    for who can tell where bravery starts
    truth is a song oft left lying unsung
    some mother bird protecting her young
    those who lay down their lives for friends
    the echo rolls onward it seldom ends
    those who never turned and ran but stayed
    this is a warrior born not made
    living in peace aye many a season
    calm in life and sound in reason
    till evil arrives a wicked hoard
    driving a warrior to pick up his sword
    the challenger rings then straight and fair
    justice is with us
    beware beware

    "You're all mad!"
    "At last you understand. Now Commodore unless you and your men wish to join our little au revoir, I suggest you and your men depart."

    Yeah, Jacques and Brain Davis are amazing modern poets...I usually don't like modern poetry, although my older sister has some amazing stuff.
