Let me see. How to describe this book. Well, it’s a Vesper Holly. What more can I say? Brinnie is hilarious as usual and Dr. Helvitius is still unpredictable. Danger, narrow escapes, explosions…Oh! One minor detail: Vesper gets married.

Being the first of the Vesper Holly series, I think it’s one of the best. It has well developed characters and plot, and Brinnie’s witty writing style contains enough humor to keep you laughing. I enjoyed this book very much.

The second book in the Vesper Holly series is better than the first. Dr. Helvitius is, if possible, even more evil than in the first book. Vesper remains her fearless self, and Brinnie retains his bumbling. It’s another exciting book from Lloyd Alexander, featuring oar-swinging El Dorado Natives, imprisonment, revenge, and events that only Vesper Holly would want to be in the center of!
