MemberRuth and I have been conspiring to get interviews from the authors doing the Fantasy Fiction Tour in October. We sent an e-mail to the organizers, and we will be doing interviews with all eight authors! The interviews will be posted on the Incredibooks blog, starting mid-September.
Here’s where you come in:
We need some questions to ask them. You guessed it! Submit your questions in this thread, and make sure that you specify which author the question is for. It’s okay if you have a question for all of them. The authors are Bryan Davis, Christopher Hopper, Donita K. Paul, Jonathan Rogers, Eric Reinhold, L. B. Graham, Sharon Hinck, and Wayne Thomas Batson.
Ruth and I will pick the questions that we think will be the most interesting. You can help us decide by heartily concurring with people about questions that you want asked.
We’re sending the questions out on September 3rd, so you have a week to post your questions. Get going, book fans!

MemberCool! Are you going to be doing interviews in person? Let me see if I can think of any good questions.
For them all:
When you were younger, did you ever imagine you would become an author?
What were your favorite books growing up?

MemberWow. Exciting.

I heartily concur with Alassiel’s second question.
All or any:
How do you develop your characters? How do you make them seem like real people instead of just figures who move the plot along?
Who is your favourite character from all of your books so far, and why?
Why did you choose fantasy to work with instead of some other genre?
Is it hard to show Christianity in fantasy without sounding preachy or clichéd? How do you find the balance?

MemberI second Alyosha’s last question: How do you have allegory in your work without it being blatantly obvious?

MemberI’m liking that one myself.

MemberThis might be one here:
Have you ever incorporated yourself or anyone you know into one of your books?
(I’m just curious, because I do that a lot.)

August 30, 2008 at 7:25 pm #43311Alassiel
MemberDo you ever write something that you love, only to look at it later and discover it’s not as good as you thought?
How did you learn to write?
What is a typical writing day like for you? For example:
Where do you write?
Do you always write at the same time of day?
Do you listen to music when writing? If so, what?
