MemberAnyone who loathes books has to take it up wid me.
I don’t like turkey as much as ham *blissful sigh* but the day after Thanksgiving, when we drag out all our Christmas stuff and turn on carols (actually, I HATE doing anything Christmasy beforehand; we were in the car and Dad turned out carols, andI screamed and howled to drown it out. I have a ‘thing’ about it!), we have these sandwiches that ROCK. You git sum cranberry sauce (which smells better when it’s cooking than when it tastes when it’s done), Miracle Whip and cold turkey, and put it all one homemade bread!!! I’ve scared many people off wid this recommendation…
When we still lived in Arkansas, my grandmother would always bring a mince meat pie and she would always be the only one to eat it. I never touched the stuff.
I love most Thanksgiving stuff, but green bean casserole and corn pudden (unless it’s made by mah friend) do not cut it fer me. HUMMUS??? Mom eats it all the time and I always go “EWWWWWWWWW!” Pita bread’s fine.

Really? I love baking Christmas cookies, listening to carols, and generally getting into the Christmas spirit beforehand.

That sounds rather good, actually…

My grandmother’s recipe specifically calls for the liver, heart, and giblets.
That’s part of the reason I don’t like it.

MemberAlyosha, do you put anything else with your hummus/pitas? Have you ever had falafels?
*googles it* Nope, heard of them but never tried it. Ought to sometime. Are they good? (And lemon juice and Gouda go with hummus nicely)

My…goodness! I didn’t know they even sold those things to the unsuspecting public. (Well, not unsuspecting exactly but…)
Aww. Liver isn’t all that bad.
I think I like it about as much as turkey.
I think it’s just the idea of liver that disturbs me, though if I thought about it hard enough, the idea of eating turkey would probably disturb me to. (So I don’t.)

You are almost as deprived as Owan’s unfortunate cousins. Almost.
*wonders what Miracle Whip is* Other than that part we’ve had that too. It’s good.
Happy Thanksgiving y’all!

MemberFalafels rock.
Lemon juice and Gouda sounds delicious… We usually put tabouli and feta cheese with our hummus/pitas.
Miracle Whip is fancy (sort of) mayonnaise.

MemberYeh, a much better-tasting off-brand. I can’t STAND real the stuff!
Deprived? Better deprived than dead!
My grandmother would always bring this giblet gravy stuff. Just to say I had, I tried a giblet and discovered that it tasted like clam. I would have it again, but we moved away!
YES, Sarah, it’s WONDERFUL! I was interested in y’all’s reaction because one girl I told that recipe to said “UGH! You can just…keep your traditions!” :x Fine, I shall.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!
