I’m sorry, I couldn’t stand it any longer! I had to start a thread for the dearie.
Does anyone else besides ol’ Pip think A Bear Called Paddington shoulda been given a Newbery Medal?
Oh, I loved Paddington, etc. I haven’t read them for awhile, should probably do that. Not sure on the medal, ’cause I don’t agree with their choices anyways.
Oh yes, those Medal winners are often soupy! (Tho’ I have read a few ones that lived up to their success.)
I just finished reading Paddington Takes the Air (whatever that means). It was so cute, he was gittin’ fitted fer a fancy suit and the fitter was flustered because…well, he is a bear, after all…and he said “The gentleman’s legs are a bit…ahem…and I really don’t think we can fit him out in time…”
“My legs are a bit “ahem”?” exclaimed Paddington hotly.
“Taking the air” is a British expression for “Going for a stroll”. And that’s a good one!
Aw, how cute! Thanx.
Pip here again; I got the Paddington books that I knew I liked from the library to make sure of the really good ones, because only having the first one is an abomination! (Well, maybe not that, but…)
Little sis is reading the first one now!!!
I just found out that after 30 years, Michael Bond has written a brand new Paddington book!!
Really? Cool!
It’s for Paddington’s fiftieth anniversary celebration. Pretty nice that Michael Bond was still around to write it, instead of somebody else!
Yeah really, it wouldn’t have been the same! What’s it called?
Paddington Here and Now, and there’s also going to be a movie in 2010 that is based on the books as a whole.
Hmmmm. Interesting. I assume it would be animated?
Live action with an animated Paddington.
Interesting.
Oh, they’d made some old ones like that, they look cute but I’ve never seen it. Is it computer animated or a stuffed toy?
