I’m worried about what they are going to have to do to make a logical story with a good plot out of the second movie. I’m watching all the proceedings with a skeptical eye at the moment.
wait, are they making a new movie? Because all I’ve seen are the lame cartoon ones.
Yes, there is a new movie coming in 2011, I believe. Check out TheOneRing for up to date news.
Peter Jackson had some fight with somebody and now’s he’s not directing the Hobbit movie…or, so I hear. T’would be most glorious if one of you knew otherwise!
But I’ve never bothered to see the cartoon one so I’m looking forward to this one.
Wow, this has gotten bumped down. We now know that Peter Jackson is producing, but not directing. Guillermo del Toro will be directing both films.
Recent news is that they have decided to make both films based on The Hobbit, instead of one on The Hobbit and the other on various bits to bridge the two.
“We’ve decided to have The Hobbit span the two movies, including the White Council and the comings and goings of Gandalf to Dol Guldur,” says Del Toro.
“We decided it would be a mistake to try to cram everything into one movie,” adds Jackson. “The essential brief was to do The Hobbit, and it allows us to make The Hobbit in a little more style, if you like, of the [LOTR] trilogy.”
Sounds good to me! I was a bit wary of the “Bridge Film” idea.
By the way, LOTR-wise, has anybody seen The Hunt for Gollum? It’s a fan film made for about $5,000, based on Aragorn’s hunt for Gollum. It’s watchable online for free at: thehuntforgollum.com (warning: it’s definitely PG-13 for violence/gore/orc blood)
