On to Rabbit Hill!
Rabbit Hill’s SUCH A CUUUUTE BOOK! Anybody ever read Benjamin West and his Cat Grimalkin, or Carry On, Mr. Bowditch? Two favorites of my dad’s.
I’ve read Carry On, Mr. Bowditch. It’s a good book. Speaking of which, I have it on my shelf and have been meaning to re-read it.
By all means, RE-READ IT! Well worth yer time! What about “Christy”? That was a pretty good book.
Rabbit Hill! I haven’t read that since I was Young and Forgetful. I always thought of it as a sort of kids’ version of Watership Down…ought to reread.
Christy was alright–my favourite part about it was that poem about the wind that was used throughout the book.
Currently reading and muchly enjoying: The House of the Scorpion
Anyone ever tried The Eagle of the Ninth? I’ve finally gotten through the first chapter!!! (Hoorays and applause…)
Ooh, yes. I need to go back and try some of her books again. Eagle of the Ninth was awesome when my mom read it to my family a long time ago.
What’s it about?
It’s about a Roman, uh, legionary? who wants to recapture the flag of his father’s? regiment, to regain honor for his family. (somebody who’s read it recently could probably summarize a bit better)
I just looked it up on Amazon. That sounds about right. Only I don’t think it’s technically a flag…
It’s the eagle of the ninth legion, that he wants to recapture.
I just finished re-reading the Hyperlinkz series. Now I have to decide what to read next.
What’s that?
Yeah, the eagle of the ninth is, I believe, a standard that they carry into battle…standard meaning a few ribbons on a pole with an ugle bronze eagle perched on the top, not meaning ethics.
Hm. *tries to figure out how to summarize the series*
It’s about 12-year-olds Austin and Ashley (brother and sister) and their adventures IN the internet. (The first time they get zapped into the World Wide Web, though, they have to figure out how to get back to Normal, Illinois, their home.) Their 12-year-old Aunt Jessica and (sometimes) her prize-winning beagle, Applet, are also part of the stories.
Oooookaaaaay! The Eagle of the Ninth is moving along faster. (Wild cheering.)
