MemberI’m going tonight, so I can post about that very important detail tomorrow, probably.

Member[spoilers, but is anyone not NOT spoiler free here anyway?]
We already know that they do.
It’s supposed to be Susan kissing Caspian though, and then he hugs her…or something.
Might be seeing it tonight so as to preview it for The Younger Half…yay!

MemberWhoa, that was great!
It makes an excellent movie, but. . . . .
. . . . .don’t compare it to the book. It’s a great movie if it stands by itself, but when you compare to the book, it takes all of the fun out of it.

MemberLoL, this is a great time for you to say that, Lightning, when I just finished posting a lengthy film review that compares to the book quite a bit!
https://incredibooks.com/2008/05/17/prince-caspian-movie-versus-book/
For those of you asking and who don’t want to read the whole review (it’s kind of spoilery, but I don’t think it’s too bad), Susan does kiss Caspian at the end, but it’s not really all that bad. It feels more impulsively friendly than anything else.
Oh, and I just wanted to throw out that even though I chased every spoiler I could find for a year before the movie, I was still very surprised. It didn’t feel like I’d seen it before at all.

MemberYou saw it? Ooh! *goes to look at the review*

MemberOk. I saw it.
And…
[SPOILERS]
I don’t know. There were some parts that exceeded my expectations and some parts that had so much potential but just sort of failed… I loved Lucy and Edmund and (shock of shocks!) Caspian. Susaspian wasn’t so bad as I thought it would be, it wasn’t overdone The kiss was cheesy and the lines about “it never would have worked” even more so, but Ed and Lucy’s reactions to it were hilarious so I guess I can forgive that.
Until the very end Peter was absolutely horrid, I couldn’t stand him.
The River God was super cool. Forget Skandar and Will, I’m going to be a River God fangirl.
There was a rather too much Battle, and this is not because I’m a book purist, I like watching battles but it gets to be all the same after a while!
Miraz was awesome. That bit with Sopesian/Glozelle (I always get them mixed up) and “How many men were lost?” “Three…” *shivers* Or whatever it was. Though actually I didn’t understand that part until my dad explained it to me afterward. The Night Raid was alright, and the ending of it was so sad… *likes sad parts*
Other favourite parts: The very beginning, the Cair Paravel/beach scenes, the drawings on walls, and the transition back into our world from Narnia.
Some cheesy one-liners were stuck into it, but they had a lot more lines almost from the book (I can’t remember any that were quoted word-for-word but they were pretty close). Still annoyed that they took out all the 1940s slang–not even “Bother, I’ve left my new torch in Narnia!” survived unscathed. Really glad they included that line though. And the “Geeky Boy” when he hears it looks so utterly confuzzled. LOL.
So yeah. Two main complaints: Peter, and the fact that it was ACTION ACTION ACTION all the way through at the expense of everything else (character development, Lucy/Aslan/Trees scenes [though I loved the bits that they did have] the “walk of faith,” Bacchus and Co., and the pacing–it rushes through everything else and then gets stuck on the battle scene for a frighteningly long amount of time).
Other than that I liked it. I want to see it again now…
And I CAN’T WAIT until VDT! yayw00t!
Questions for the General Public: What was your favourite part? Who was your favourite character? Did you cry? Did the other people in the theatre say anything interesting?

Me either!!! *yayw00ts with Alyosha*
My favorite part? Well, I actually found the battles to be fun, but then again, I’m a guy, so that might somewhat bias me.
I loved the part when Lucy met Aslan. It was perfect, in my opinion.
Favorite character is harder. They were all pretty good. Okay, how about Reep?! He was very good.
I did not cry, but I did get choked up at the end of the night raid.
The other people in the theater were actually pretty quiet (!!). Except for right after the night raid, two kids slid into my row and started talking LOUDLY while Caspian and Peter were arguing. Ah well, and excuse to see it again, and again, and again.
Oh yeah. I’m extremely disappointed that This Is Home was cut down so much to fit the credits.
May 18, 2008 at 3:26 am #40439Alyosha
MemberThe people at my theatre were generally well behaved, except that they all laughed during the bit with Peter and Edmund during the duel–the shoulder relocation and all that. Ack.
Did you think that the first Lucy and Aslan scene was a dream, or not? Everyone else I talked to did, but in an interview they said that they wanted to leave it open to interpretation, so I’m going to pretend that it wasn’t.
I didn’t even notice that about This Is Home. Despite the weird title I liked Dance Round the Memory Tree more, actually…it just fit the mood of the movie better.
So are you going to see it again? *is scheming*
May 18, 2008 at 11:11 am #40440Jordan
MemberI probably can’t afford to see it again in theaters, but I had a friend who wanted to go with me, so, maybe…
I do plan on seeing it dozens more times on DVD, though. So on NarniaWeb I voted that I’d see it 10+ times, ’cause they didn’t specify in theaters or not.

MemberWell, I saw it today! It was a good *movie*, though it deviated from the book. With the whole castle thing, and butchering Peter’s character with the attitude thing. So bleck to that, but I really enjoyed it as a movie. The river god was pretty impressive. And Edmond pretty much rocked.

MemberI’m still in the dark about the movie, not having seen it yet *hysterical wailing*, but I have a friend who won’t stop talking about it; so I can actually quote from it.
Non-viewer (I hope desperately that that will change!) Comments: Anyone Susan and Caspian’s age kissing won’t be made up for by anything, Reepicheep looks absolutely GLORIOUS and *hides behind something solid* (I’ll be watching the movie to see HIM and not Caspian, as so many girls my age seem to be doing!
), and Jordan, battle-loving isn’t all biased because I LOVE well-done battle scenes and don’t mind blood in-the-least! Rodents and bloody torture appeal to Pip!!!!!!!
June 20, 2008 at 11:52 am #40443Jordan
MemberWell, I’m glad that somebody agrees with me about battle scenes!
June 20, 2008 at 9:33 pm #40444Pip
MemberLOTR really went wild with ’em, tho’…one big battle! Tried to watch it on surround sound wi. Dad, and it’s like “WHOAH!!!”
