Okay, so the movie will be coming in about a month. Are you planning on seeing it?

I keep seeing rumors of the rating. But I cannot for the life of me find somebody who agrees! Wikipedia claims that it’s PG-13, IMDB doesn’t have a rating but claims that there is a “scene of decapitation”, and somewhere else (don’t remember) claims it’s PG. Anybody know anything official?

I went looking for the new poster to find out, but I can’t find one that’s high-res enough to see what it’s rated. I can see that there is a rating, and it has a “P” in it, but I can’t make out the rest.

I’d like to see it. The earlier, the better, especially ’cause I’d like to write a review of it.

I doubt I’ll see it. Maybe once it comes out on DVD, I’ll borrow it from the library. Depends on what reviewers say.

It shouldn’t be PG-13, unless they’ve gone and made it alot worse than the book. I doubt they’d do that, though, as it is supposed to be a kid’s movie.

Me again. I just went and checked, and according to the official movie website, it isn’t rated yet.

The official movie site doesn’t have much on it, anyway. No news, no blog, no poster. Just a trailer and social media widget.

I’m fairly certain it will be PG–Walden Media has stated more than once that they won’t make any movies rated higher than that. If it did get a PG-13 I suspect they’ll cut the necessary parts out, like with LWW, to make it PG again.

At any rate I’m sure it will be PG in Canada, not that that matters to anyone else here ;)

“Scene of decapitation”? Ha, that sounds so random…

Anyhow, yeah, I hope to see the movie. My mum actually offered to take me without any begging or pleading on my part. Shocking!

Exactly. That was why I was shocked to see Wikipedia listing a PG-13 rating. If I could find a poster that I can actually see the rating on, I would go edit Wikipedia straight away.

Larger version of the new poster –yep, PG. (Don’t ask me what that picture has to do with the actual story…)

Any random person who decided that the movie ought to be or might be PG-13 could have edited Wikipedia–I don’t think it means anything. There’d have to be some pretty major changes to put it at the same level as LOTR or The Dark Knight!

    {edited}

edit again–Comingsoon and some other sites say PG for “mild peril and some thematic elements,” another site says the same “for mild violence and language.” I’d place my bets on the first… *hopes*

What’s-her-name (Lina, Loona?) falls of a cliff. Oh boy.

Okay, now IMDB has a rating. They say it’s PG for “Mild peril and some thematic elements”, whatever that means… *wishes they’d be a bit more clear with these movie ratings…*

Ah, Thematic Elements mean anything from a family broken down over Pa’s drinkin’ or young marriages like in Pride and Prejudice, or scary emotions, or sadness, or rebellion, or just anything that would generally upset the sensitive and kids, which pretty much covers all the meaty stuff in today’s movies.

Whoo, that was worded BADLY! Hey, it’s nearly 2:30 AM here, so I have an excuse. A poor one, but an excuse all the same. The poster looks weird.

BTW, this is sooo off-topic: for those of you wondering (and you very well might NOT be) I am changing my little quotes at the bottom of my posts every week or so, and if I can ever figure out how to change my avatar with gravatar (I’m a poet!) like I did the first time, I’ll be changing those as well. These hibiscuses are getting on me nerves!

Ah! Doon’s kinda rebellious, and the kids do a few things that aren’t too good, so that probably explains “Thematic Elements”.

And there’s a few ‘scary’ scenes.

Yes, I’ve heard something about a scene with a ***POSSIBLE SPOILER!!*** monster in the pipeworks or something like that. ***END POSSIBLE SPOILER*** Wonder what that’s all about. Not sure I like the idea or not. :? 18 days!
