MemberTed Dekker’s not scary… just weird and creative. And it seems that all his books tie together in some way. He’s #4 on my favorite authors list.

MemberWho’s before him?
I used to be obsessed with Lloyd Alexander, but looking back on the Prydain Chroncicles, they were rather moody in most parts.
If nobody’s read The Second Thief, find it or get or do something to acquire a copy!!!!

MemberI echo Sarah’s question. Who’s it by?

MemberI remember the Archives of Anthropos. I never finished the last one because it seemed really dark.

MemberThe Second Thief’s about this atheist who gets a glimpse into what his life will be like if he does not accept God’s mercy. It’s got a neat ending. It’s written in present tense, which sometimes makes it confusing, but I thought it gave it more depth.
Anyone been able to get their paws on “Brisingr” by C. Paolini yet? I saw it in a bookstore.
June 25, 2008 at 3:22 pm #42166Alassiel
MemberBrisingr’s out? I didn’t realize that. I wonder when my library’s gonna get it…
June 25, 2008 at 3:46 pm #42167Jordan
MemberApparently not. Amazon lists Brisingr for release on September 20th, 2008. 784 pages.

MemberGood giref, Eldest was huge and now this!
I thought sure I saw Brisingr in a bookstore. Maybe they got it early.
Oh, libraries always take FOREVER to get in new books! :{ I say order it via interlibrary loan!
June 25, 2008 at 8:02 pm #42169Jordan
MemberActually, Eldest was over 1,000 pages, so this is a slight improvement, I guess.

MemberOne…thousand?
Wow. There go all my intentions of reading that particular un-trilogy just to criticise it properly.

Haha, I love it when bookstores muff things like that to the advantage of their clients. Not that I’ve ever had that sort of luck, or anything.

Member1,000 pages? Hmm. I thought it was only six hundred eighty-something. My copy was, anyway. It sure FELT like a thousand pages to wade through! It wasn’t even that interesting. I say skip Eldest and move on to Brisingr! You ain’t gonna miss much.
June 26, 2008 at 6:26 pm #42172Alassiel
MemberYou might not be missing much if you skip Brisingr, too. It doesn’t look all that great.
We should really start a thread to discuss this.

MemberHey, this thread IS about books! We’re throwing in suggestions here and there…
