Freddy Goes to Florida

Our rating: ****

The farm animals are dreading the long, cold winter ahead of them. Then, a swallow suggests that they migrate! So a small party of animals, including Freddy the pig, head for Florida. On their trip they face many dangers, but always find some way out. But best of all, they bring Mr. Bean, the owner of the farm, a surprise present that will change their lives!

A great start to the Freddy series! There are some very funny parts.

Freddy the Pied Piper

Our rating: *****

When Jerry the rhinoceros comes all the way from Virginia to ask Freddy’s advice, Freddy knows something is up! And something is up. Mr. Boomschmidt, the circus owner, is running out of money! Things get so bad that the animals have to be sold or sent into the country on their own. And when Leo the lion disappears, Freddy, with the help of a few friends, set out to save the day!

Another enjoyable book in the Freddy series. Though there is a pied piper part, the book is mainly based on helping Mr. Boom.

Freddy and the Ignormus

Our rating: ****

When the First Animal Bank is robbed, and the animals begin receiving threatening letters, everyone starts to panic. Rumors appear about a strange creature called the Ignormus living in the Big Woods. Things get worse and worse until Freddy decides to organize a group of animals and find out what the Ignormus really is, and what it’s up to.

This is another great book. A must-read for all Freddy fans.

Freddy Plays Football

Our rating: ****

Mrs. Bean’s long-lost older brother Aaron Doty comes to the Bean farm to visit her and to collect his share of a large inheritance, which, if the Beans give it to him, will ruin the farm. Freddy is sure that Mr. Doty isn’t who he says he is, and when Mr. Garble comes back to town, Freddy knows something is up. But Freddy must also go to high school so that he can play football in the big game between Centerboro and Tushville.

I love the way Freddy always gets himself into problems like this. Rest assured, though. Freddy is still the pig from the previous books and always manages to get out of them.

Freddy the Pilot

Our rating: *****

Mr. Boomschmidt, the circus owner, is in a quandary and a dilemma. So he calls on Freddy to help him out of it. Mr. Boomschmidt explains that when Mademoiselle Rose, the horseback rider, refused to marry Mr. Condiment, the sour-faced comic book publisher, Mr. Condiment threatened to close down the circus—forcing Rose to marry him for money. Since then, he’s been doing all sorts of things to stop the show, the newest of which is dive-bombing the circus in a plane. Freddy must summon up all of his detective skills in order to solve this growing dilemma.

This is one of the best Freddy books! Freddy gets to use some of his sidesplitting disguises, and with Sniffy Wilson, the skunk, and his family pretending to be Robin Hood and his Merry Men, the results are hilarious!
