Freddy and Jinx have just gotten home from their trip and are wondering why the people are scowling at them. Mrs. Peppercorn, a friend in many Freddy books, explains that that there has been a crime wave through Centerboro. Windows smashed, houses broken into, and gardens ruined! Also, there are animal tracks, clearly showing that animals were the culprits, and the blame has fallen to the Bean animals! Money is demanded to be left in a certain place, where a headless horseman picks it up at night. Dodging to keep out of jail, Freddy, with the help of friends and a very special dragon, sets out to bring justice to the real thieves.
A very enjoyable read. Walter R. Brooks has the ability to develop a good and exciting plot. Samuel Jackson, also in Freddy and the Flying Saucer Plans, enters into this hilarious Freddy story.

The evil Juskarath clan of rats, ferrets, stoats, foxes and weasels kidnap a baby otter from Redwall, believing him to be their Taggerung, a great warrior destined to lead them. But as Tagg grows, he begins to realize that the cruel, merciless ways of the clan are not for him. He leaves the clan and sets out on a quest to discover the place that he dreams of: Redwall Abbey. Meanwhile, back at Redwall, Tagg’s sister, Mhera, is faced by an increasingly confusing set of riddles.
A great Redwall book. Brian Jacques is very skilled at coming up with riddles and this is one of the best books to prove that. Taggerung makes for a very interesting main character, too. Definitely a must-read for all Redwall fans.

Unable to bring the balloon back to earth, they spend a few days floating about the country. When they are finally able to get down, they find that Freddy has been accused of stealing the balloon. As the dishonest balloon man, Mr. Golcher, refuses to return the money Mr. Bean paid him, it’s up to Freddy to get the money back.

Dandin and Mariel’s wanderings have taken them to a place called Southsward. The squirrel king, Gael, has been treacherously conquered by the foxwolf, Urgan Nagru, and his mate, Silvamord. Martin the Warrior tells Joseph the Bellmaker to go aid Mariel and Dandin in their fight to save Southsward.
With old and new friends, this is one of my favorites.

Molly Moore wants a horse more than anything in the world, so when her father takes her to a horse auction for her tenth birthday, she has dreams of a young sleek horse being her very own. But all the horses are too expensive except for one skinny old mare that her father thinks will be perfect for pulling carts and plowing fields. Lady Sue has a surprise for all of them, though, when she gives birth to a mule. Molly names him Brown Sunshine and begins his training. Her one dream is for Brown Sunshine to be King Mule on the next Mule Day celebration.
This one is much shorter than most of the other books by Marguerite Henry, but it’s still enjoyable, if slightly predictable. It’s a fun little story.
