Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roal Dahl 160 pages

This was my favorite book when I was little, and I still like it. :D Though Willy Wonka is a bit uncaring.

The Life of Our Lord by Charles Dickens 104 pages

I never did care for Bible retellings, personally. But then, it’s not a bad thing.

The Martyr’s Song by Ted Dekker 111 pages

I sound like such a pessimist and all that bit no, I don’t like this book either. The story was fine, but the whole thing about “being beautiful” didn’t make since and was unbelievable if you know what I mean. And I didn’t think the writing was quite as good as it could be.

Freddy Goes to Florida by Walter R. Brooks 197 pages

I adored these when I was younger. And even if they’re a little kiddyish I still like them.

Anna and the King by Landon 250 pages

Unimpressive. The writing was poor and the characters (particularly their emotions) were unrealistic. Though I do like the movie, or did the last time I watched it. Loved it.

I know people on NarniaWeb who use those sites, I don’t. But, you can do the same thing with Goodreads.com. ;) Never tried and have no desire too.

jordan – 7 hours ago  » Owan, we actually have some of those reviewed:

Holes and Mystery of the Roman Ransom and Detectives in Togas

I figured I’d post something even if you’d reviewed it. The search feature is a mess currently. I can’t search anything.

I’ve never read Twenty-One Balloons but since I liked The Giant I probably should… Oh yes, do read Despereaux again, Ruth.

I’ll ditto Alyosha’s Beauty, Till We Have Faces, The Queen’s Thief books, and The Man Who Was Thursday.

I’ll have to look for I Am David if you like it so, Alyosha.

I’ll add to that list some of my tip-top favorites:

The Toothpaste Millionaire by Jean Merrill

Leepike Ridge by N. D. Wilson

The Tale of Despereaux by Kate DiCamillo (refrains from posting the whole title)

The City of Ember by Jeanne DuPrau

The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents by Terry Pratchett

    Holes by Louis Sachar

The Giant by William Pene Du Bois

    And these as side dishes:

Eric in the Land of the Insects by Godfried Bomans

Trouble at Timpetill and Mystery of the Roman Ransom and Detectives in Togas by Henry Winterfeld

The Story of a Bad Boy by Thomas Bailey Aldrich

Instead of Three Wishes by Megan Whalen Turner

Of course, Jordan, I wasn’t trying to be horrid about it. You have quite a lot of great reviews and if I re-read some of the books you’ve reviewed I’d probably have some favorite quotes from them too. You have, BTW, a great site and awesome selection for five people.

No, Adalin, I used to be able to quote near the entirety of Prince Caspian but I’m not that good anymore.

The thing is, it’s not exactly my fault those were all CoN quotes its just that all my other favorites are from books this place hasn’t reviewed! *weeps* And trust me, I only posted about 1/6 of my favoritequotesfile.

    I don’t think that paragraph made sense…

    *posts quickly* I shouldn’t be here…

Beauty by Robin McKinley 247 pages

Very good! And I was glad Beauty stuck with her name Honour and left her family in time, so that it wasn’t her fault she was late. I always detested that part of Beauty and the Beast.

Thirteen at Dinner by Agatha Christie 126 pages

I never was much of one for mysteries, I’m sure Agatha Christie is a great writer, I’ve nothing against her but…yeah. And I wish the man with the gold tooth had more significance. *pouts*

The Witch’s Brat by what’s-her-name Sutcliff 112 pages

Good writing and good characters, lacking in plot — what a trial.

My family is strictly forbidden to read at the table/well eating because of family socialization and the dreaded reality of food ending up on the books and glass spills and things like that. That doesn’t mean books are never taken to the table or are never around food, infact, I’ve got ketchup all over The Pirates of Pompeii when I read it.

I read just about anywhere, bed, car, chair, table, floor, outside, inside, upside, downside, things like that. :D
