The version I have is called I am David. Hey, I watched the old Pride and Prejudice (suffered through it, is more accurate) and wasn’t very impressed! The Seeker, Jordan, wasn’t really violent, there was just a lot of mysticism and fantsay-style elements. It’s about this kid who’s trying to find these “signs” scattered all throughout time so this nutty Rider guy (he’s really cool!!!) won’t destroy the world. He is aided by the Old Ones, ‘ageless’ dudes who have magical powers. It’s a light against darkness thing. The Princess Bride, in my opinion, was only salvaged by the what’s-his-name male hero. Anyone ever seen Citizen Kane? Old-timey and prfoundly sad!

I love the new Pride and Prejudice adaptation! The new Little Women was good, I Am David was really good (the book is wonderful, by the by) and a newer book called The Seeker was purty good as well, though I’m still debating over the worldview of Susan Cooper, author of the book The Seeker was based upon.

I watched LOTR before I read the books, and found the Fellowship to be a bit too historical. Anyone agree?

“Eragon” by Christopher Paolini was ok, though the sequel stank to high skies! (Some magic…) “The Kingdom Series” by Chuck Black is short and sweet. The Hobbit rocked, the “Redwall” series is awesome, “The Wolves of Willoughby Chase” by Joan Aiken was deliciously scary, and the “Prydain Chronicles” by Lloyd Alexander are all good, a bit meloncholy. All of these (save the Kingdom books) adorn my heavy-leaden Favorite Books shelves.

Yay! I’m finally in. Ok, here’s what I’ve read since June first:

    Bonanza Girl (Beatty), 210 pages

Sequoyah and the Cherokee Alphabet-a school book!-(Cwiklik), 129 pages

Wicca’s Charm (Sanders) 197 pages…a great, Christian book about why so many people today are drawn to modern witchcraft.

Regina Silsby’s Secret War (Brodeur), 248 pages. A one-sitting read!

And Anne of the Island (Montgomery) 298 pages
