    You might try listening to The Hobbit on CD. That’s what I did. Rob Inglis does a good job narrating.

    A rather thick book by Bill Myers. :D That’s the only thing of his that I’ve read. It’s split into 4 parts, and I think that somebody also published each part as a separate book, calling it the Imager Chronicles. It’s kind of an allegory. The main characters start out as unbelievers, but they get saved later on. (If you still call it that when it’s an allegory.)
