Princess Irene finds her great-great-grandmother and eventually the princess gets a ring from her that will lead her to her great-great-grandmother, also called Irene. One day, Princess Irene and her nurse go for a walk up the mountain and don’t realize how late it was until it’s almost dark. The nurse panics, because it’s against the king’s orders to be out after dark, since the night was the goblins’ day and there were many of the creatures in the mountain, and they began running down the mountain. They met Curtie, a miner’s brave boy, who rescued them from any dangers of goblins by rhyming verses, which is one way of defeating goblins.
Great book! I didn’t stay away from this book very much! I started it last night and finished it a little earlier today. I found out there’s a sequel to this book called The Princess and Curdie. Also, let me tell you that the summary I wrote is definitely not all the plot!!! There’s a bunch to this book. Adventures, rescue, and magic. This book might not be best for readers about 7 or 8 and under, depending on how easily you’re scared. Though there are some big-words-that-I-wasn’t-sure-what-they-meant in The Princess and the Goblin, this is still a good book!

The Pye family, complete with Ginger and Gracie, were going to spend the summer on Fire Island! Once there, they find an “abandid” kitten named Pinky. The Pyes decide to keep her. They find out she has unusual talents, such as boxing with Ginger and even typing on their typewriter! Uncle Bennie came to Fire Island with them and develops an interest in crickets and grasshoppers. He starts keeping them as pets and Rachel will put them, inside their cricket and or grasshopper box, up in the eaves. But when they start disappearing… what’s up?
This is a great book. You can probably guess what’s up, so I didn’t categorize it as a mystery. Still, Pinky’s cute and I like the epilogue.

When Austin Webster brings home a digital camera from a garage sale and takes a picture of his Aunt Jessica’s prize winning beagle, the beagle, whose name is Applet, disappears! Austin and Ashley, his sister, are both sucked into the computer and get separated. Austin and Ashley go from site to site, trying to find Applet and each other. As if that weren’t enough, a Ms. Mattie Blankenskrean (try saying that out loud) is reprogramming or just plain erasing things such as people praying or a hymn. Can Austin and Ashley find each other, find Applet, and get Ms. Blankenskrean’s PDA, which she is using to reprogram and wipe out?
Warning: this book ends on a cliff hanger. If you’re thinking about getting this book as a present for someone, then you may want to buy book two of the Hyperlinz series, Fudge Factor. This book is recommended by Mrs. Donita K. Paul, author of DragonSpell and DragonQuest. You may find this book a little confusing, because it flips back and forth between Ashley, Austin, and Aunt Jessica. However, I like this book. Aunt Jessica is a fun character.

When Hopeful Farm’s main barn burns down, (and their insurance policy has ended) Alec Ramsay sets out to raise enough money to rebuild it. He takes Black Minx and the Black with him to New York. (Along with Henry Dailey.) Alec enters Black Minx in several races, but will she run like she did in the Kentucky Derby? Also, a three-year-old colt, Eclipse, has broken several records and a horse named Casey is winning himself to greatness. Will the Black be able to beat the two champions?
I found this book confusing sometimes. However, it’s still a pretty good book. You may find yourself sucked into this book near the end.
