Cal Flint is a cowboy, who starts a ranch near the Bean Farm. Forced to buy Cal’s horse Cy, so that Cal won’t beat Cy to death, Freddy thinks he has a bad deal. But then Cy teaches Freddy how to ride, and the fun begins! Then Cal gets mad, because Freddy can ride a horse that he couldn’t stay on. He’s out to shoot Freddy and rob the First Animal Bank, but Freddy and his friends have a few tricks up their sleeves…
While I was reading Freddy the Cowboy, I was prepared to say that it wasn’t as good as some of the others. However, when you get to the last five chapters, the books really starts to get exciting! That makes up for the slower beginning. Also a good book to read, Freddy Rides Again contains more of Freddy’s adventures as a cowboy.

Hans’ passion is the Lippizaners. He is bursting with questions about them, but how can he, a mere baker’s boy, fulfill his dream: becoming a Riding Master? With the help of Borina, the champion stallion who set the record of ten courbettes in a row, Hans sets out to make his dream come true!
A well-written book. Borina, the stallion, is one of my favorite characters! I definitely recommend this book! See our Book Tips page for pointers on how to find out of print books.

Riftgard has been taken over by the evil ferrets who have imprisoned and enslaved the woodlanders living there. Triss the squirrel, Welfo the hedgehog and Shogg the otter are secretly planning to escape. Simultaneously, the badger Lord Hightor’s son, Sagaxus and the hare Bescarum run off to seek adventure with the sea otter Kroova Wavedog. And to top it all off, Redwallers are on the trail of rediscovering Brockhall. This is wonderful story. A definite must-read.
This is absolutely one of my favorite Redwall books. I couldn’t tell you anymore in the review without giving things away. But please read it and find out how it ends! There’s plenty of humor. Bescarum, (affectionately called Scarum) has some hilarious songs that he sings. Which you can expect from practically any hare. Lots of duels and fighting. Some large adders and a bunch of free-booters. Please excuse me. I want to go read it now.

Mara, the young badger whom Lord Urthstripe adopted, is not content with her life at Salamandastron, the great badger mountain. So she runs away with her good friend, Pikkle Ffolger, an over-enthusiastic hare. Lord Urthstripe is grieved when he learns this, but even more so when the runaways return with two vermin, a ferret and a weasel, who, unbeknownst to Mara and Pikkle, are part of the great horde of the evil weasel, Feragho the Assassin! After scouting out the mountain fortress, the vermin return to their horde to report their discoveries and begin the march to conquer Salamandastron. While all this is going on, back at Redwall, the sword of Martin the Warrior is discovered and, shortly after, stolen. Arula the mole and Samkin the squirrel set off on a quest involving many adventures to regain the sword.
I love this book very much. (And, let’s be frank about it: I have a hard time reading it without crying.). It’s a wonderful tale of hope, strength, and sorrow, bound together by friendship.

In this sequel to Misty of Chincoteague, Paul and Maureen are faced with a hard decision. A movie company wants to buy Misty. Maureen and Paul finally decide to sell Misty, so city children can see a wild pony. Misty’s going leaves an empty gap in their lives, which is eased by the orphan colt Sea Star. When Sea Star won’t eat, they have to find a way to make a mare, who has lost its colt, adopt little Sea Star.
A very nice story. Although, I was surprised that Sea Star only has the last half of the book and a very short half at that. It was fun reading this book again. I hadn’t read it for quite a while and I had forgotten a lot. Sea Star is one of Marguerite Henry’s heartwarming stories.
