MemberI’ve only read the first one, but I loved it and wish I could find a way to get the other books without buying them new. *cringes at thought of spending that much money on two books*
I love Scottish Chiefs, by Jane Porter, but I don’t know if everyone would. It’s about William Wallace, but it’s a romanticized story, and I’ve read people complaining that he’s too perfect. I, however, don’t care, and am in love with the book anyway. It’s an older book, and pretty long, too.

MemberThe Redwall ones are pretty good, since they are read by the author, and he has the most wonderful storytelling voice! Except they use different voices for the characters, and some of them don’t work very well. Also, I stopped several sentences into Redwall, because they were using the same voice for Matthias as they used for Wilf in Castaways, and it just didn’t work as both.
Ella Enchanted was also good.
We listened to all the FOTF Narnia Radio Dramas while on car trips, and I enjoyed them, except I didn’t like Aslan’s voice. I always cringe when I hear it. To me, it’s too harsh and gravelly, more suited to a villain than to Aslan.

MemberI mean Anne of Green Gables: The Continuing Story. It’s where Gilbert joins the army in WW1, and Anne goes to find him.

How do you like it? I think I liked Kidnapped better.
I just finished Kidnapped, but so far I think I like them about the same, though in different ways. Kidnapped was a little bit slower, but it had alot of cool Scottish stuff.

MemberWow, msfelfbjf, did you read all of those since June 1? You must have read at least two books a day. I read alot, but even I can’t do that. At least, not with books of that size.

MemberI just started Treasure Island.

MemberI started a book journal last year. I write down the title, date completed, and any comments I have. Then I rate the book from 1-10, and note if it made me laugh or cry.

MemberFor some reason, I didn’t like the Railway Children either. It just wasn’t all that interesting to me.

MemberThat’s weird! I just watched the first 2 Anne movies in the last 3 days, and have been seriously considering reading the series soon. My mom read us the first one out loud awhile ago. This is actually the first time I have seen the 2nd movie, and Gilbert is wonderful! I can identify with Anne trying to find a place for her imagination, even though she’s grown up.
Oh, is the 3rd movie any good? A friend said it was terrible. What do you think? Is it based on the books at all?

MemberI like some poetry, mostly only if it tells a story. Otherwise, it doesn’t interest me much.

MemberI don’t mind getting off-topic, as long as we get back on-topic eventually. It’s more interesting to have a conversation that isn’t restricted to one subject.
