MemberI’ve only read the first book, but I liked the fact that they talked modern-style. It was funny, and it makes more sense.

MemberOoh, let me know what you think of David Balfour, Pip! I am waiting for my library to get it on interlibrary loan.

MemberActually, Jordan, I did. Lately I’ve had more difficultly getting into a book. I don’t know what’s wrong with me. When I actually thought about it, I would be more likely to cook than read! Very strange.

MemberMy sister, Adalin, took it and it said she was Elrond. Now that definitely does not fit her at all!

MemberThank you.

MemberI’ve read it! There’s a thread about it somewhere, if you want to discuss it.

MemberIt said I was Sam. I’m not sure how well that fits me. I guess it does.

MemberI don’t think I’d notice the language either, except that I have read many of his books out loud, and found myself suddenly having to edit.

MemberHitler, by Albert Marrin- 241 pages
This author writes excellent historical books. It was very interesting to learn about what Hitler’s life was like as a child, and what made him the way he was. I enjoyed the book alot, even if it is about such evil.

Raiders From the Sea, by Lois Walfrid Johnson- 199 pages
The Second Thief, by Travis Thrasher- 236 pages (I read this one after your recommendation, Pip. It was alright, it just didn’t grab me much. The first half was kinda boring. And the way it was written in present tense was slightly annoying.)
Running Total: 8,244 pages
Although, Owan, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved.” is a Bible verse. Acts 16:31 to be exact. Though I do agree with you.

MemberI’ve read both. I liked the first one pretty well, and disliked the second. Have you read them?

MemberAlyosha – 3 days ago »
I enjoy his blog more than his books actually, not sure why. Though that might change when I read Isle of Swords.
That’s funny, Alyosha, so do I! I didn’t get into the books that much, but I love his blog.

MemberThanks for re-trying and reviewing it. I don’t really like the moral dillemmas either, but since Theo is mostly good, I can overlook them. The language was unnecessary, but I have noticed there is a little language in most of Lloyd Alexander’s books.
