MemberAnd double-posting ’cause nobody else is reading, apparently!! *glares meaningfully at all the members who aren’t posting!*
Now I’m reading The Enchanted Castle and enjoying it immensely.

MemberYou mean a summer Read-a-Thon? Ruth and I have been discussing plans for the next one. Actually, if you want to get your feedback in on that, head over to the Read-a-Thon ’09 ideas thread.
I believe that somebody suggested that anybody could start a contest here, with prizes being something a little less valuable, like a custom title on the forum. If you want to start one of those, just send a PM to me with the idea, and I’ll give you the go ahead if it’s good.

MemberThat could be fun, too, Alyosha. Those of you on book swapping sites could do all the places you’ve gotten a book from.
Jordan
MemberYes, that Father Brown, Rebekah. And I’ve been reading two or three a day.

MemberLoL, I completely forgot this thread!
I read Beyond the Reflection’s Edge not too long after my last post. Very good, better than most of the DIOM series. I can’t decide if I like it better than Oracles of Fire, though. Eternity’s Edge was great, too. Quite interesting in that
The “good guy” and “bad guy” types of a certain race can hardly be determined sometimes, which makes for huge examination of morals before a decision is reached. Highly recommended!

MemberWell, you’ll find everybody else’s comments on Bryan Davis here: https://incredibooks.com/ibdiscuss/topic/dragons-in-our-midst
I’m not familiar with Colleen Coble. Modern or older?

MemberThere has been some angst over the fact that Fox is tossing VDT to the branch that handled Eragon. I’m just going to say that I’m not worried. Eragon as a book wasn’t too great, IMHO, and that would definitely harm a movie. VDT is a great book, quite cinematic, and Walden is on-board to make sure creative decisions get made properly, unlike Eragon, which had Christopher Paolini basically handing the reigns over to the Fox execs. There’s a difference between a young author with his eyes on fame, and a production team that includes Douglas Gresham, who doesn’t seem to me the type of person to go after that stuff.

MemberFox has picked it up! Here’s the story on NarniaWeb: http://www.narniaweb.com/news.asp?id=2110&dl=22545350
The studios are still working on the rights details, but we know that Michael Apted, Georgie Henley, Skandar Keynes, Ben Barnes, and Will Poulter are set to work there. Walden still has the rights to the movie. The hope is to begin shooting end of summer for a holiday 2010 release. The budget is $140 million.
Seems to me that Walden has found a partner who will bow to their wishes. The release date, budget, and director were all chosen by Walden, and the screenwriter who wrote the most recent draft has pleased both studios.
Get out the party props and let’s celebrate!

MemberI forgot to say that it’s freezing cold here! Just got back from my lovely vacation in the warm South, and now here I am with current temps hitting 2 degrees Fahrenheit and snow all over the place. Bleah.
