MemberThe Read-a-Thon ends at midnight tonight. Midnight where you live, wherever that is. I’ll be locking the thread when I get up tomorrow morning.

MemberLast of the Nephilim, by Bryan Davis. 435 pages.
Great! Obviously sets up the next one, and I can’t wait for it!
Running Total: 5,127 pages. (Yes! I beat my score from last year!)

MemberYou guys have some great questions! I can’t wait to hear the answers to some of them. Keep it coming!

I get a lot of books from the kids’ section, get mostly nonfiction from the adults’ section (or order the books beforehand) and go into the teen section only when I need a particular book, rushing back out as quickly as possible in hopes of escaping detection. (The contents [in general] of those shelves are another thing that causes despair.)
*hopes she doesn’t sound too snobbish*
*applauds uproariously at Alyosha’s statements concerning the teen section, then decides that if she’s a snob, he must be, too*

My library doesn’t have any Wii or any such thing. Maybe they have one in the mysterious B.
They do tend to have very outdated computer games of the worst in their genre.

MemberAmerica’s Christian Heritage, by Gary DeMar. 85 pages.
Yet another attempt from a Christian to show how America was founded as a Christian nation. Very lame, poorly reasoned arguments. Don’t take me wrong, I’m not an atheist or anything. I’ve just studied the history enough to know that many of the founders of America were definitely not Christians in a Biblical sense. /rant
(I’m enjoying Last of the Nephilim much more…

MemberI have a card that allows me to use two libraries in the same branch. The nearest one (I can ride a bike to it) is small, and has no upstairs. They recently added a larger wing to expand the children’s section, though.
The other one has an upstairs where all the children’s books reside, and then the teen and adult books end up on the ground floor. There’s also a mysterious “B” level on the elevator, but of course, that button requires a key…

MemberI’m liking that one myself.

Cool! Are you going to be doing interviews in person? Let me see if I can think of any good questions.
We’re doing e-mail interviews. They’ll e-mail us the answers to the questions.

MemberLoL @ Alyosha! What’s with setting books on fire? *is curious* This thread is getting WAY off-topic. When you answer, why don’t you start a new thread about library fines and such?
Jordan
MemberReally?!? I thought Frankenstein was b-o-r-i-n-g and just plain weird. While I enjoyed Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Go figure. (disclaimer: I had to read them for school)
Jordan
MemberI’ve never had to pay a fine on a book, but I came awfully close on one that my dad checked out on my card. He didn’t return it until last minute, so the library had me listed as owing a fine, but I guess they changed it when they saw the book in the drop box. *whew*

MemberMelodyJM,
I’m not familiar with the number of words per page in Manga as compared to a regular book. We used the page count because the word count on those is pretty consistent. I’d say that the one you’ve got is okay, but I think the rest of us would prefer that you not use them in the Read-a-Thon.
If somebody can give me an idea of the number of words per page and it equals out more or less, or has some ratio, I’ll be happy to either “lift the ban” so to speak, or come up with a proportion of pages in Manga to pages in novels that you can use a guide for posting them. Sound good?
Jordan
MemberYup yup. Pip, you sound like my library trips. I currently have eight or nine books out, most on ILL, and they all go back at different dates, some have been renewed, etc.
Jordan
MemberThe next four are much better. I have problems re-reading the first one now, ’cause I know what happens.
