(Off-topic) For italics, Pip, just click on the “I” in the list above the post box and then click it again when you want to go back to regular text.
Or just highlight the word you’d like to italicize, and then click the I button. Either way works.

MemberThe second one is (whether the publisher says so or not) for a bit older audience. The main character is 16, so I would assume that the 10-14 year olds wouldn’t quite identify. I haven’t read the third one yet. Anybody here read it?

MemberI’ve always been wary of dramatizations. We bought the BBC radio dramatization of Lord of the Rings at a library book sale once, and, believe it or not, though it was made in the 1970s or ’80s, they cut everything that the movie cut! Plus, the battles were pretty dumb. Whenever there was a fight or a battle, it was just a whole lot of yelling. You could never tell what was going on.
Of course, then we decided to try their dramatization of The Hobbit. That was sort of weird, because they kept changing narrators. First it would be a narrator, and then Bilbo would narrate, and then the narrator would come back. Kind of confusing. But they kept the story pretty well, I think. Oh, and they kept pronouncing people’s names wrong! Like Gollum became “Golloom”.

MemberOh, that’s a good one. *applauds Alyosha for performing the difficult task of finding some poetry he likes*

MemberAlrighty, we’ll have to check it out.

MemberKidnapped is really good if you can get it on audiobook, narrated by somebody with a good Scottish accent! Wonderful!

MemberMy favorite one is probably the sixth one. Anne’s kids are so funny!

MemberC Triebold, I can’t speak for Pip, but after that many books you start to make lists not in “top ten” but in “top 100”!
Jordan
MemberNot modern lit, though, Pip. Ancient lit, from all eras at once, all styles at once.
I guess I do like some poetry. *gets ready to duck* I like the nonsense stuff that Jack Prelutsky and Shel Silverstein write! *ducks*

MemberMy mom started writing down the books that each of us kids have read when I was, I don’t know, in the 10-13 range. She still does it now, and I have no idea what my count is!

MemberSorry, I should have been a bit more clear. The reason that we can’t allow fanfic or somebody’s story online is because if we did, then there would be nothing to stop you from writing something of your own and reading it. So, no, an unpublished book or story by you does not count.

Umm I was wondering if fanfics or someones story online count???
No, books count toward your page count only if they are published. Otherwise, there’s nothing that keeps you from writing something, reading it, and then posting that you’ve read it.
Jordan
MemberRight, see, it’s almost a satire of prejudice. You just have to have the right kind of sense of humor to appreciate it.

I don’t particularly like poetry, so I’m really dreading the test I have to take on literature soon. It’s 35-45% poetry! *shudders*
