MemberLOTR really went wild with ’em, tho’…one big battle! Tried to watch it on surround sound wi. Dad, and it’s like “WHOAH!!!”
Pip
MemberGlorious! One scary part was written so well, I actually got goosebumps! That’s never happened before. It’s worth a reading, in my opinion. “Over Sea, Under Stone” is the slow-started prequel; I read it to my critical younger siblings, and they loved it! I don’t know about the third book in the Dark is Rising Sequence…I got it from the library today. It’s called Greenwitch. Here’s hoping!

MemberOoh, I’m using Apologia; I hated the physical science one, hopefully the biology will be better. I saw Dr. Jay Wile at a curicculum convention. I’m taller than he is! “Uh, hi, Mr. Science Man!” *looking downwards*
We just got the school program for this fall via FedEx yesterday; it’s Sonlight, packed full of BOOKS!!!!!!! I’m so excited!

MemberAin’t that always the way?

MemberThanks! Uh…what exactly does that MEAN!!!
Pip
MemberI’m still in the dark about the movie, not having seen it yet *hysterical wailing*, but I have a friend who won’t stop talking about it; so I can actually quote from it.
Non-viewer (I hope desperately that that will change!) Comments: Anyone Susan and Caspian’s age kissing won’t be made up for by anything, Reepicheep looks absolutely GLORIOUS and *hides behind something solid* (I’ll be watching the movie to see HIM and not Caspian, as so many girls my age seem to be doing!
), and Jordan, battle-loving isn’t all biased because I LOVE well-done battle scenes and don’t mind blood in-the-least! Rodents and bloody torture appeal to Pip!!!!!!!

MemberPinnochio was strange, I think I like the movie better!

MemberThere was a lot of petty squabling in that book, from what I remember. I debated about getting the next in line at a curicculum fair, but decided against it. Should I library it?
Pip
MemberOh, horrors! I could hardly get past the commercial, Alassiel!!!!! Having loved the book, my siblings and I decided to pass that one up…
Note: To those of you wondering, Fogg is a middle-aged man, not a teen, he has normal hair, thankee, NOT long, and he’s very gentlemanly and unimpulsive and the movie just ruined him!!!!!!!!
Even in the old version, Passepartout is Spanish. I’d like to see him French for a change.
Pip
MemberMan, if anyone ever writes a series, make sure to get the reader hooked on the first book, fer Pete’s sake!
I’ll see if my library has the book.
Pip
MemberHeh, heh…
Pip
MemberWhere would one find that?

Owan, I understand whatcha mean! I often wonder at books that are deemed timeworthy when they’re chock full of raunchiness, when the Bible’s fine and good. I personally feel that the Bible gives reasons about why these things are bad and why we shouldn’t do them, and God felt it necessary for people to realize just how drastic sin was (and is). And obviously young children aren’t being introduced to sex and witchcraft, murder and idol-worship at an early age, there are dozens of happy little Bible storybooks written specifically for the reason that yeah, the Bible does contain some grown-up stuff. Just remember, God did not write anything in the Scriptures that He felt wasteful or unimportant. He wanted us to realize how nasty we are, as humans have a tendency to believe the best about themselves and ignore the badness.
Myself included!

MemberJordan, when you PM someone, where does it go? Their e-mail or their little profile doohickey? Is it safe?
