MemberActually, I was thinking almost completely opposite to you, Alassiel. I found the presence of the “Believers” to be an interesting bit, and I took it as a warning of what can happen when you forget what you’re believing in and just equate it to “We’ll be saved someday”. But whatever.
And the kids did regret that they broke the rules, unlike characters from, say, Eragon, who break the rules all the time and don’t ever feel bad.

MemberI’m somewhere around where you’re at. I didn’t think Eragon was too bad, and Eldest did everything you said. I’m planning on reading Brisingr to see if Paolini can surpass the first book, now that he’s gotten a bit older.
As for what will happen in Brisingr, did anybody see the thread on Amazon? “Do you think he blows up the Death Star in this one?”

MemberThe Pushcart War, by Jean Merril. 222 pages.
Running total: 2,136 pages. (Yay! I broke 2,000!)
Jordan
MemberI may or may not write a review. Still thinking about that.
Edit: I must be in the mood, ’cause I seem to be involuntarily starting one… It may not show up for awhile yet, though.
Jordan
MemberActually, Eldest was over 1,000 pages, so this is a slight improvement, I guess.

MemberOkay, getting this thread back on track… *glares at the malevolent violators of the subject*

Just finished reading Ember last night. Loved it, quite good. Had to check out the movie trailer again this morning, and it looks very close, with a few things added, but it’ll probably be worth seeing.

Pretty good! I’m definitely getting the next one before too long.
Running Total: 1,914 pages

MemberAre Batson’s books available in paperback? I didn’t think any of them were that way.
Jordan
MemberApparently not. Amazon lists Brisingr for release on September 20th, 2008. 784 pages.

Whoever wins, how will you send the book to them? Just ask for there address? And how do you know if someone is making up all the pages they read?
We will ask the winners for their addresses through our PM system, or ask them to email us. Then we’ll forward it to the author of the book they’ve won, and they’ll send it to that person.
We’re doing this on the honor system, so we’re trusting everybody to be truthful about what books they’ve read. Obviously, if we find out that somebody is lying about their page count, they’ll be disqualified.

MemberThat may be what messes up DragonSpell for me. Toopka being present for the rest (except one), and Regidor!!
Jordan
MemberLoL, Alyosha. That sounds like me when I had Tears of a Dragon out and read it straight through on one car trip. I was so brain dead the next day!
And I should be starting City of Ember today.
Jordan
MemberI just finished The Spiderwick Chronicles (look for a review on the main site in the next few weeks). On to The City of Ember!
Jordan
MemberActually, I really liked Circles of Seven! It’s weird, but it’s a page turner nonetheless! Bryan Davis does best when he’s not in our world.
The Wrath of Mulgarath, by Holly Black and Tony DiTerlizzi. 136 pages.
Running total: 1,644 pages.
Jordan
MemberIt’s rumored to be October sometime.
Isn’t it great that the UK premier went so well? I was so excited when I heard the news!
